Two New Directors for NZ LAW Board

Published: 9th October 2018

Author: Anonymous

We’re pleased to announce the election of two new directors to the NZ LAW Limited board – Melissa Bourke (Palmerston North) and Brent Winkelmann (Taupō). These appointments took effect from 5 October 2018. Melissa and Brent have taken the places of retiring directors Jacqui Gray and Michael de Buyzer.

New director, Melissa Bourke, is a partner in Palmerston North and Pahiatua member firm Innes Dean Tararua Law. She advises clients on trust, property law and all aspects of relationship property; she is also experienced in elder law and is regularly appointed as Lawyer for the Subject Person. Melissa sits on the Manawatu Branch Council of the New Zealand Law Society.

Brent Winkelmann’s law practice focusses on residential and commercial property, trusts and business law. He is a partner in our Taupō member firm, Le Pine & Co which also has branches in Turangi and Putaruru.

Board chair Kristine King says, “We welcome Melissa and Brent to the NZ LAW Limited board, and we look forward to their contributions to the group.

“We would also like to acknowledge the two directors who are retiring after each having served six years on the board. Jacqui Gray, a partner in member firm Gifford Devine (Hastings), has had responsibility for member firm staff training and development. Oamaru lawyer, Michael de Buyzer from Berry & Co, has held the board’s insurance portfolio. Jacqui and Michael have set the bar very high for the directors who will take over their portfolios. We thank them very much for their commitment and work they have done for NZ LAW.”

NZ LAW’s board of directors now comprises:

  • Kristine King, Duncan King Law, Epsom, Auckland (chair) with directors
